MAKING A DIFFERENCE - MICMAD WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

MAKING A DIFFERENCE - MICMAD WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

MICMAD what does that mean and why? A very valid question! Why am I trying to make a difference? What do I mean by that?

Well firstly I am an ideas person and Ifrustrate myself with all these ideas I have and I never really seem to have enough umph to get one of them sorted. Don't get me wrong I do lots of things but I also let lots of things get in my way and stop me from making it happen.

Collecting and sharing travel stories has been an idea of mine since I was 14. I have talked about it many times, requested stories many times and even got a few. I would spent hours telling Dad how I would get enough stories to make three chapters and then send it off to a publisher like him and they would publish it and it would be a best seller! Wishful thinking!

When I got to Australia my mojo for entrepenurialism really came out. I had done the hard slog in Hong Kong and Australia has a real essence of vitality, give it a go can do attitude and I really felt like people support your ideas here. It's also not as big as say the UK in population so it's easier to connect with people in some ways and harder in others as I don't know many people!

I really decided I wanted to create a travel platform, a hub for travellers to get inspiration for their next trip either because they have a specific destination in mind or they want to read a funny story or something a bit different about a place. So my ideas started coming together. More talking, more drawing, more list writing. Not a lot of action!

I would get particularly stumped by getting people to write stories. I don't have any, I can't write, maybe later, I don't have the time. It was rejection central and I really struggled and evenually I said well I gave it a go and it really is too hard this idea people won't write stories.

So earlier on this year I went to the Blue Mountains and I said to my boyfriend then, if there's one thing we do this trip I want to decide on an idea and actually do it. So hours of hiking in mountains and little other to do than list out every idea I had on the planet and work out which one is best. Some were more business focused, some more charity focused, really it came down to the trave story idea. This was the oldest idea and the one that I would really feel the most regret if I didn't do it it 10 years time.

As luck would have it I had already thought of the name MICMAD. I realised that what was going on in the world was very sad and I started to play with my pen on the paper with the words maybe I can, maybe I can make a difference....and so it started MICMAD. I registered the company name as MICMAD Foundation as in the future I want part of MICMAD to be a charity.

One step at a time first I needed to focus on MICMAD and the travel stories!

I know it can be confusing however, travel for me is quite deep. Making a difference is me myself doing my dream. If I inspire someone to go on holiday that's great aswell. If this site contributes to people being more aware of beautiful places in the world that challenge our perception even better. The list goes on. Then there are the amazing people who are climbing that mountain, riding bikes up Australia, or making a real difference to nature, people or animals and I really want to capture those stories too.

So yes MICMAD means a lot of things to me personally and I hope the brand will go to mean a lot for other people too. Right rant over! I really hope you enjoy the blog and please do contribute. How are you making a difference? What are your dreams? Where is your dream destination? Dream holiday? What are you putting off? What changed your perception on something? Could be you haveturned veggieorchanged religion or just found a new favourite dish. Let's share the stories and see what we can create!
